The Experience Project
ESCAPADE62 is a project funded under the European Interreg France (Channel) England, through the "EXPERIENCE" project.
EXPERIENCE is a project where experience and authenticity, rather than the destination, become central in the visitor's motivation. This European project aims to promote new tourist "experiences" outside of the traditional summer period, between October and March instead. The aim is not only to increase the number of visitors to but also to spread tourist traffic more evenly and to increase the average length of stay by one night in the low season.
EXPERIENCE rethinks traditional tourism, trains new actors such as foresters and craftspeople to develop their tourist reception skills, develops and proposes new original sales arguments specific to their regions, develops new attractive routes and adapts summer tourist infrastructure for off-season use.
Experience-based stays or travel is a trend enjoying strong growth in the tourism sector, in which the traveller seeks a certain ethic and an authentic "getaway", respectful of the place visited and the people who give it life. The department of Pas-de-Calais, well known for its coastline, is much less well known for its rural areas, full of beautiful landscapes, walking or cycling routes and historical, cultural or gastronomic heritage that come together to offer an ideal base for the development of experiential tourism products of international renown.
As such, ESCAPADE62 forms part of the promotional tools of the new off-season experiential offer developed in the six pilot regions: Brittany, Pas-de-Calais, Compiègne, Norfolk, Kent and Cornwall. Without this opportunity, the Pas-de-Calais Department would not have been able to offer you this innovative digital tool.
